Major
Campbell was born 21 March 1960 in Canandaigua, New York. He joined the
Marine Corps as an enlisted man in July of 1978. Following bootcamp, he
was assigned to 1st Supply Bn, 1st FSSG, Camp Pendleton,
California where he served as a Logisticsman. In September of 1979, he
joined Marine Air Control Squadron-4 in Okinawa, Japan. Returning from
Okinawa in October of 1980, Major Campbell was assigned to 7th Motor
Transport Battalion as a Logistics NCO.
In April of 1984, Major Campbell was assigned in Marine Air Control Group -15 in Okinawa, Japan as the Embarkation Chief. Returning from Okinawa in March of 1985, Major Campbell was assigned to Amphibious Squadron Three where he served as Combat Cargo Chief. Following sea duty, he was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and served as a Troop Handler for Communications and Electronics school in 29 Palms, California.
In February of 1989, Major Campbell was promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer and served as an Embarkation Officer. In July of 1989, he was assigned to 1st Force Service Support Group, Camp Pendleton, Ca as the Embarkation Officer. In July of 1991, Major Campbell was assigned as the Embarkation Officer for Marine Air Control Group - 24. Returning from Hawaii, he was ordered to First Marine Division in Camp Pendleton where he served as the Division Embarkation Officer.
In September of 1996, Major Campbell served as the Combat Cargo Officer for Amphibious Squadron-7 in San Diego, California. Following sea duty, he was transferred to Marine Forces Pacific where he served as Embarkation Officer. In November of 2000, Major Campbell was transferred to 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force in Camp Lejeune, N.C. until his retirement on 1 July 2002.
Major Campbell is currently serving as the Senior Naval Science Instructor for the Navy Junior Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) at Port Angeles High School. He assumed that position on 29 August 2003.
Major Campbell and his wife Brenda have three grown children, Ronald, Robert and Evelyn.
Major Campbell’s personal decorations include: Meritorious Service Medal, Three Navy Marine Corps commendation medals, the Naval Achievement medal and three Good Conduct medals.
Major Campbell joined the Marine Corps League Mt. Olympus Detachment 897 in February of 2004.
