Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation - PAHS information updates

Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has provided the PASD with a grant for the purpose of ensuring that all children reach high achievement standards and are able, upon graduation, to choose their future.

Technology that enhances instruction and supports the achievement of students will be included in school plans.

In Port Angeles the grant will be phased in, beginning in September of 2000.  The first phase will include Port Angeles High School, Choice Alternative School, Stevens Middle School, Dry Creek Elementary School and Hamilton Elementary School.  Port Angeles was chosen because of its many strengths and accomplishments, as well as the district's commitment to meet the increasing challenge of helping all students achieve.

To qualify for funds, the Principal and a school planning team will:

• provide leadership for School Reinvention planning that will model the attributes of high achieving schools and teachers that are focused on improving teaching and learning.
• develop a "School Reinvention Plan" using the District's Strategic Plan and the Attributes of High Achievement Schools as a guide.
• submit a School Reinvention Plan to the Advisory Committee that is subsequently approved.
