Essential Question: An essential question is a question that probes for deeper meaning and understanding of an issue, concept, or principle. Essential questions set the stage for further questioning, foster the development of critical thinking skills and higher order capabilities, such as problem-solving and understanding complex systems

I-Search: An I-Search is personal research paper. It combines the practice of traditional research skills with the student’s own story about the search for the information and what the student learned about the topic. It is less formal than the traditional research paper and can be written using first person. It answers the questions: What did I know before embarking on the project? Why am I writing the paper? What is the story of my search? What did I learn in the process?

Proclamation Poster: A poster that advertises what the student's essential question is and project.

Prospectus: a printed preliminary outline, plan, program, scheme, syllabus, or synopsis that describes the project and its components  and is displayed or published.
