What will I study?

This course will cover body shop safety, autobody construction, metal repairs, plastic repairs, surface preparation, refinish material and equipment, refinishing structural alignment, replacing panels and components, glass, electrical, estimating and career opportunities. Some students are working at local shops. Students may participate in a leadership club program through VICA.

How long is the program?

Intro Autobody & Welding: One semester, one hour per day.

Advanced Autobody: Two Semesters, three hours per day.

What credentials will I earn?

Students completing Autobody Repair will receive a certificate of completion and will have entry-level skills to enter the job market or go on to further training.

What do I need to enter?

Introduction to Trade and Technology is recommended before taking intro to Autobody and Welding.  Advanced Autobody repair requires teacher permission and successful completion of Introduction to Autobody & Welding with a grade of C or better.

Who will teach me?

Dan Helpenstell, Autobody Repair instructor, is a graduate of Port Angeles High School. He has worked as an autobody technician since 1978. He also has worked for Priest Logging as a welder and heavy equipment mechanic. Dan has taught at Port Angeles High School since 1992.
