Math Practice Problems for Fourth Grade in Logic

 

4L-18)  Answer: Erica=turkey gravy, Kayla=corn dog, Josh=chicken, Nathan=green salad

Erica, Kayla, Josh, and Nathan each had a favorite school lunch.  One of them likes turkey gravy the best, one prefers corn dogs, one favors green salads, and one likes chicken burgers.  Kayla does not like sandwiches.  Nathan does not eat meat.  Erica loves turkey.  Which lunch does each student like the best? 4L-17) Answer: most: chocolate mint or peanut butter; least: sugar cookies

Betsy's Girl Scout troop sold cookies. They sold more chocolate mint cookies than sugar cookies. They sold more peanut butter cookies than sugar cookies. Which kind of cookie did they sell the most? Becky needed 2 liters of chili to serve at the party. When she went to the school kitchen to get it there was a lot of chili but only a 5 liter and an 8 liter container. 4L-13) Answer: 2B Þ 1B stays; 1B back; Man crosses alone; 1B back; 2B cross

4L-8) Answer: Larry-golf; Bailey-soccer; Sydney-lacrosse; Gerald-basketball

Larry, Bailey, Sydney, and Gerald are all trying out for different team sports; basketball, soccer, golf, and lacrosse. The first letter of each person’s name is not the first letter of the their sport. Larry will be out of town the entire month of December, and cannot play a winter sport. Tyrone and Will are playing a game. Each player has a paper with a square on it, and some markers. The square is divided into 4 columns across and 4 rows down. The object of the game is to be the first player to put 12 markers in the 12 boxes so that each row and each column has a total of 3 markers in it. Erin was on Pine Lane, trying to remember where each of her six new friends lived: Sean, Jiro, Lee, EIsa, Dina, and Cam. She knew they lived across from each other in the first three houses on each side of the street. She remembered that Sean lived in the first house directly across the street from Jiro and next door to Lee. She also remembered that EIsa lived next door to Jiro and on the same side of the street as Cam. Mary, Jose, Philip, and Theresa come to school in different ways. One rides a bicycle, one comes by bus, one rides on a ferryboat, and one walks. Theresa crosses a river to get to school. Jose doesn't ride to school. Mary sits next to her sister on the way to school. "How many of you went shopping?" asked Mr. Top as he looked at all the packages his children had brought home. Susi giggled and said, "Let's see. Your daughter; your son, a basketball player, a football player; a sister; and a brother." Mr. Top smiled and said, "You mean six of you went shopping?" Susi giggled again. Mario, Julie, Andrea, and Elmer were the only skaters on the ice rink, so they had a race. They raced around the rink and back to the starting place. Elmer came in 5 seconds after Julie. Andrea came in 5 seconds after Elmer. Mario came in 11 seconds before Andrea. Julie finished in 20 seconds. 4L-2) Answer: Daniel-hot soup; Ben-tuna sandwich; Martin-salad; Julie-peanut butter sandwich

Mr. Lewis packs lunches for his children every day. Today he made four different lunches: a tuna sandwich, hot soup, a peanut butter sandwich, and a salad. Daniel does not like a cold lunch.
