Orchestra Assessment
“Rosin your bows, and get your music out and ready to play!” Mr. Jones shouts
over the eager students. After countless hours of practice we are finally ready.
Sound erupts from the stage, emanating outwards towards critical eyes. The spot
light is on us. Confidently, we bow out musical phrases. When the last note dies
away, the adjudicator walks up to the stage, and announces how we did.
On March 19,2008 adjudicators from Seattle, Washington will come to PAHS to
evaluate our musical performance. Before noon both seventh and eighth grade
orchestras will be playing in front of the judges. They will be judging us on “A
table plus paper and pencil” says Mr. Jones but we all know they will be
watching how in tune we are and the overall sound. Possibly they can judge us
individually on our posture and finger placement. Several options are available
for transportation. Students can either get a ride from someone or we may take a
bus.
