Choir Expectations and Procedures
We look forward to another great semester of making music! There are many events coming up that we wanted to make sure you had on your calendar, and to remind you of the expectations for participating in choir.
Choir Expectations
1. Be in your seat when the tardy bell rings.
2. Be prepared for class with all materials needed.
3. Display proper posture (both feet on floor, eyes forward, sitting up straight and tall).
4. Play or sing only when given permission.
5. Participate appropriately.
6. Do the best YOU can.
7. Respect yourself, your fellow students, and your teacher.
Choir Rules
1. Be kind to everyone.
2. Follow directions the first time given.
3. No gum, candy, treats, food, soda are allowed in the choir room.
Consequences
You will receive 5 rehearsal points each day. Points will be deducted for breaking the rules and not meeting expectations.
Excessive conduct problems will result in:
1. Teacher/student conference
2. Choir detention after school
3. Teacher/student/parent conference
4. Office referral with possible expulsion form class
Tests and quizzes
There will be occasional music theory quizzes and singing tests.
Concerts/Performances
It is required that all choir students attend each performance. A written note signed by a parent or guardian must be presented TWO weeks before the event to be considered for an excused absence.
Should an emergency arise, a written note signed by a parent or guardian must be presented the day following the event in order to be excused. Unexcused absences will result in 50% of total choir grade lost. Choir concerts are regarded as the final exam for
each quarter.
Concert dress
Concert dress should follow the school dress code at all times. Ladies are to be modestly dressed with long pants (no skirts, culottes or gaucho type pants). No bare midriffs, low cut shirts or exposed undergarments.
Dress code:
Ladies ? Black long pants, black socks, black shoes, white shirt or blouse with sleeves. Undergarments must also be white and not show. Please, no colored tops under the white shirt. No facial jewelry. Modest earrings are acceptable.
Gentlemen ? Black long pants, black socks, black shoes, white shirts (preferably dress shirt) with a tie.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child's choir teacher.
